Language Camps at Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai F.A.Q.

1. How are the groups formed?

The inquiries are mainly collected through Google form (you will get a link for the same). During the assessment period we are analysing the inquiries and form tentative groups considering the students’ age, level, program needed.

Once we get a minimum number of participants to open a group, we are contacting the parents and offering to enroll.

2. Are there several languages taught in a camp?

No, only one language is taught in a group. We are offering a list of languages (English, Arabic, French, German, others) to choose from. Please feel free to check with our coordinators which language groups are more feasible to start this season.

3. How can I register for the course?

In order to register you need to complete the payment (on getting a prior confirmation from us about starting a group). The payment is to be done directly to us. You can either complete it online by card or through bank transfer.

Please note that we are taking the payment for the Language part only. If you wish to sign up for Sports as well, please contact Stryx provider.

4. What shall we do if there are not enough inquiries to start a Language camp?

To be on the safe side you can secure a place for full day Sports camp with Stryx provider.

In case a Language group is collected at some point, you will be informed on the same, then you can ask the Sports provider to make it half-day.

5. Can I register my child for Language camp only?

Yes, you can either sign up for Language camp only (Mon-Fri 09.00-11.00 am) or extend the camp by adding Sports afterwards for additional price (11.00-14.00). In order to arrange the Sports camp please approach the Sports provider (or ask us to share your inquiry with them).

Please note that there is no possibility to arrange transportation at 11am (it is only available at 9am and 2pm). Only kids of 5.y.o. and above are accepted in Sports camp.

6. What are the prices?

The price for Language camp is 795AED per week (5 days a week, 9.00-11.00am).

In case you wish to sign up for several days in a week the price is 175AED per day (please ask if this option is available).

The price for combined camp (Language+Sports) is 1145AED per week (795AED paid to us, 350AED paid to Stryx provider).

7. Are non-SISD students accepted?

Yes.

8. Do you provide transportation?

The bus transportation can be arranged in the morning (9am) and daytime (2pm) only – unfortunately no buses are available at 11am. The transportation is arranged by Stryx provider for additional fee (one way – 150AED, two way – 250AED).

Please note that there are limited number of seats.

9. Do you offer make-up classes for the classes missed due to the kid being sick/personal reasons/ force majeure?

In such cases make-up classes are not offered and the classes are not to be refunded.

In case of class cancellation from our side, we will offer a make-up session/credit to the next semester/year for you.

10. What shall a student bring to class?

All necessary learning materials shall be provided by us.

Kindly pack some snacks for your child.

11. What if my child cannot attend the class?

You can ask the office to connect the kid to the class online. Kindly do the same well in advance (1 day) so that the teacher could bring a laptop and arrange a Zoom meeting.

Unfortunately, no make-up sessions/credit notes can be offered.

12. Where should I bring the kid?

You will get a WhatsApp message at least one day in advance about collection point and time, rest of the details.

Important notes

Learning process. Materials

• We are striving to keep the same teacher throughout the whole course. However, in exceptional cases we reserve the right to replace a teacher.
• Please let us know if you wish to focus on certain things during the course, get homework, etc.
• Other students can join group classes in the middle of the course, however only those who fit (according to the teacher) will be accepted to proceed in the same group.

Special conditions

• In case your child has special medical conditions/allergies, etc. we kindly ask you to inform us about the same before the start of the course.
• If you are strongly opposed to your child being photographed/recorded in class please let us know in advance (kindly note that we always ask for prior parents’ permission before posting any materials in social media, websites, etc).

• Please note our working hours Monday - Friday - 09:00-20:00, Saturday, Sunday - 10:00-19:00
• Kindly note all the messages we receive in WhatsApp are marked as Read on default (however it does not mean we actually read them).
