TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

TESOL Course

What is TESOL?

TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It refers to teaching English to non-native English speakers either abroad or in English-speaking countries.

Who is TESOL for?

TESOL is for anyone interested in becoming a language teacher. There are no pre-requisites for the course. You don’t have to be a native English speaker to take our TESOL, however you will need to have a certain level of English as the course is conducted in English and all the materials are in English.

You will also have to deliver 6 hours of English lessons that will be graded at the end of the course. Now once you have completed the course and obtained your certificate you can teach in any language, but we do require around a B2 to C1 level of English to join.

If you aren’t sure of your level, we will happily assist you, and we can also conduct a short interview with you before you sign up to the course to make sure you will be comfortable with the materials. All candidates native or non-native speakers don’t require any background in teaching, or English.

If you have never taught before this is fine, as you will be learning to do this on the course. If you have taught before this is also fine as you can use your experience and integrate the new techniques with your current teaching philosophy. If you have studied English grammar before that will be fine as we do cover this briefly on the course, but if you don’t know anything about English grammar this is fine too as the course is designed more about how to teach, not about what you already know about the structure of English, this you will learn once you start teaching.

Why TESOL?

TESOL can actually benefit anyone looking to teach a language in a professional setting. There is a growing demand for teachers as the student base grows yearly, in countries across the globe more and more schools are opening their doors to more and more students each year, and these schools need qualified language teachers.

What can I do with my TESOL?

If you look at any online job websites for language teachers, you will see they usually require some form of certification (TESOL / TEFL/ CELTA ect). The TESOL is internationally recognized, and as stated before it will allow you to get the call for an interview, and the tools you learn on the course will help you make a great impression and increase your chances of getting employed. You will also be able to demand a higher salary as a qualified language teacher, instead of just being a native speaker.

The TESOL provides each candidate with 6 hours of real classroom teaching, which will be graded and observed by a qualified trainer. This will prepare you for any job interview that you will take in the future.

You will understand teaching methodologies, lesson planning, and you will even be comfortable doing a demo lesson for your future employer. The TESOL gives you all these tools, and makes you a confident teacher, and a good candidate for any future employer.
